One golden summer’s day

This poem is based on an actual memory and a very special one.

I remember one golden summer’s day,

deep in the rich colours and blooms of May.

Me and my grandmother sat by the shore,

watching the waves roll in, roll out, roll in, roll out.

She lifted her arms like she was trying to smooth out the sea,

and told me that she loved me.

I smiled a secret smile and gave her a kiss,

breathing in her musky perfume and the scents of Europe.
